So ‘ILAT’ (International Conference on Learning and Training) has come and gone and by all accounts, it was a great success. While 10/10/10 was an auspicious date, it was quite a challenge finding a hotel in Kuala Lumpur, that was not booked for a wedding. Fortunately, It was only the welcoming dinner and official opening dinner that we were organizing for the 10th and magically, we not only had 10 speakers, from 10 countries on 10 topics, but we also attained the magical figure of 100 participants.
These comprised learning professionals made up of mostly consultants, educators, facilitators, lecturers, professors and trainers.
Dr Jeannette Vos, an international guru on accelerated learning (AL) and co-author with Gordon Dryden, was not only a key presenter on the 12th , but also conducted a post conference workshop on 13th. Her theme of the 12M’s of Accelerated Learning and 7 ways to use music to accelerated learning, was well received. Photos of the event and slides from the 10 sessions available on the this website but also on Dr Peter C Shephard – Facebook Page.
We were honoured to have the presence of a real English Lord – The Right Honourable Lord of Little Neston in the UK, Kevin Couling.
He was invited as Chairman of Cambridge Global Learning, one of the conference sponsors and he officially launched the Advanced Professional Certificate in Accelerative Learning (APCAL) and awarded two scholarships. These were for the pioneering work of Edumind Resources Staff. Mathew Gan and Nicholas Chan, who has been actively profiling and training teenagers in areas of Accelerated Learning, Study Skills and Personal Development.
Congratulations Mathew and Nicholas, and a big thank you to Kevin, for gracing the occasion.
So, as we move forward after the several months of hard work on organizing the conference, we are now enrolling lecturers, teachers and trainers in APCAL. We have received HRDF approval for participants to claim back their fees for APCAL. It comprises four , 2 day action learning workshops, held over 6 months which will be facilitated by two well respected international educationists, Dr Asma Abdullah and Dr Peter Shephard. By the way, this can also be conducted on a ‘in house’ basis. Check it out on this website for further developments.
Meanwhile, as 2010 rapidly closes, may we wish you all a successful year of new learning in 2011. Remember – “Learning should be Life Long”.
